Grade Four

Here are some of my favorite things about Grade Four. I like my teachers, science, L.A. Writing, and Speech Arts. I’m so lucky and blessed to have supportive teachers at Saint Catherine’s. They are always there to help me when I need them. I also like Science. We have studied animals from all around the world. It was interesting. Speech Arts is fun. We have learned a poem and perform in front of others. This is helping me with public speaking. My favorite subject is L.A. Writing. I love using my imagination to write short stories. E.S.

Students have received the criiteria for an independent research project on an animal’s behavioral and physical adaptations. This project will be due Friday, February 10.

Students have recently chosen a creature of B.C. to study. They have received a criterion to assist in completing this project. It will be due March 2. They will be required to report on their animal’s habitat, adaptations, food/prey, and environmental factors affecting their creature’s survival.

Students should have chosen  three out of five categories for St. Catherine’s Speech Arts competition. These categories include: poetry recitation, bible reading, character recitation, speech, and story telling.

Students need to be prepared to present their choices in April.

The Grade Four Class will also be performing “Jabberwocky” as a choric poem.

This month Dr. Kreeft is going to be speaking at the Abbey in Mission.
Here is the information which was printed in their newsletter yesterday:

“We would like to remind you about the January lectures by Peter Kreeft here at the Abbey and Seminary.  There will be two lectures  on Saturday, January 28, beginning at 10 am and finishing at 3 pm.

The theme for the Saturday lectures is: the Church and secularism.

Last Friday, January 13th, all students received a Mass Journal. One of the requirements for confirmation is completing 10 mass journal entried by the end of March. I strongly encourage students to purchase a missal to make this task easier. This will allow the students to concentrate during mass without scribbling down notes! It also gives them more time to reflect on the questions presented in their journals and give more meaningful responses. I will be checking these journals every week and tracking how many are completed.

The students are highly encouraged to turn in their mass journals every Monday.
